Let’s talk about Savannah & Music
Savannah has always had a lot of music in it, and over the years I’ve been fortunate to meet many of the people who helped shape it.
Like a lot of guitar players my age, everything changed when I saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1963. By 1969 I was playing in my first band—a proud Ventures cover band—and before long I was teaching guitar and spending a lot of time at Schroeder’s Music here in Savannah.
Those were great years filled with local bands, gigs, and musicians who all had their own stories.
I’d love to hear some of them.
Were you in a band around Savannah?
Did you play local clubs, churches, or school dances?
Do you remember some of the bands, venues, or players from back in the day?
If you’ve got a story, a memory, or even just a band name you remember, I’d enjoy hearing about it.
Music has always been about people as much as the songs, and Savannah has had plenty of both over the years.
Let’s share a few of those memories.
